ODU Classes Canceled and Offices Closed for Thursday, Nov. 12

Old Dominion University classes and events for Thursday, Nov. 12 are cancelled due to the current inclement weather situation. This includes classes at the Peninsula, Tri-Cities and Virginia Beach Higher Education Centers. Campus offices are also closed.

The current inclement weather system (known as a Nor'easter) has generated coastal flood warnings, high wind warnings, flood watches and predictions of heavy rain for our area. University officials continue to monitor the storm and will announce any subsequent closings or delays as appropriate. Please regularly check www.odu.edu for updates.

Old Dominion University faculty, staff and students are reminded that any delays or closings will be announced through the university's ODU Alerts messaging system, web site and e-mail, and local media outlets.

The following local media outlets will carry information about delays or closings: television stations WTKR-TV 3, WAVY-TV 10, WVEC-TV 13, and radio stations WHRV-FM 89.5 and WHRO-FM 90.3.

Essential personnel should consult with their supervisors regarding their status and need to report to work.

ODU faculty, staff and students with a valid ODU parking decal who live near campus and are concerned about possible street flooding may utilize any of the university's parking garages or lots on campus today through Friday.

ODU faculty, staff and students who do not have a parking decal, but who wish to utilize the parking garages during the current inclement weather, should go to the Office of Parking and Transportation Services to complete the necessary forms and receive a parking designation. There is no charge for this temporary service.

(Note that portions of Garages C & D near the Ted Constant Center may be closed as of Friday morning for events scheduled that evening).

Normal parking restrictions and enforcement will resume as of 9 a.m. Saturday morning. Vehicles without proper parking privileges must be removed by that time.

Also, the City of Norfolk has announced that residents may utilize city garages for parking due to the coastal flood warnings. Visit http://www.norfolk.gov/ for more information.
