President Obama Visits ODU
President Barack Obama visited Old Dominion University on Tuesday, Oct. 27, during a campaign stop for the Commonwealth's upcoming gubernatorial election.
Sponsored and paid for by the campaign for Democratic nominee for governor Creigh Deeds, President Obama addressed a crowd of 5,700 in ODU's Ted Constant Convocation Center.
The crowd went wild when President Obama took the stage. During his speech, he thanked ODU President John Broderick and remarked on the success of the ODU football program, to great applause.
"I want to say thank you to the Old Dominion University President Broderick. He told me your football team is doing all right," Obama said.
