Blog Provides an Inside Peek Into ODU Monarch Men's Basketball

With the start of practice this Friday, Oct. 16, ODU basketball fans will be able to follow the men's team in a whole new way.

Brendan O'Hallarn, an employee in the Office of University Relations at Old Dominion, is providing fans a peek inside ODU basketball. His blog, "Living Like a Monarch," will be published on the ODU sports Web site all season long. It can be seen at http://www.odusports.com/genrel/100209aaa.html.

The blog is an attempt to demonstrate just how much goes into putting a competitive Division I basketball team on the floor. In addition to profiling the players and coaches, O'Hallarn hopes to experience ODU basketball from a number of different perspectives, such as painted up as a member of the Monarch Maniacs, or working as one of the team's managers. He's even taken part in some of the team's workouts and fitness testing.

"We are excited about Brendan's chronicles of our basketball team this year, and I know our fans are going to enjoy the insight he will provide from behind the scenes with his blogs. Stay tuned," said ODU Senior Associate Athletic Director Debbie White.

A basketball fanatic, O'Hallarn has been attending Monarch workouts, as well as other team functions. With the start of practice on Friday, and games only a month away, he hopes to capture the excitement of what could be one of the best men's teams ODU has had in years.
