Events Planned for Game Week
Students, fans, faculty and staff will be able to enjoy a number of events in the days leading up to Old Dominion University's first football game in 69 years.
A series of spirit-building activities on Kaufman Mall is planned, featuring live music, food and beverages, and performances by the Monarch Marching Band, cheerleaders, dance team and Big Blue.
OPENING WEEKEND EVENTS:
THURSDAY, SEPT. 3
7 a.m. - "The Coors Light" Bobby Wilder radio show, live on 94.1 FM from Buffalo Wild Wings, 1308 Greenbrier Parkway, Chesapeake.
FRIDAY, SEPT. 4
8 a.m. - 5 p.m. - College Colors Day: Wear your ODU colors and apparel to show your Monarch pride.
4 p.m. - Paw print painting: Students will paint blue paw prints on sidewalks around campus.
6 - 9 p.m. - Pep rally on Kaufman Mall, featuring live music, games and activities; the Monarch Marching Band; cheerleaders; dance team; Big Blue; and football coach Bobby Wilder speaking at 8:45 p.m.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 5
2 p.m. - Parking lots open for football game
3 p.m. - Kaufman Mall opens for activities, including alumni tent, student tent, athletic promotions tent and live music; food and beverages for sale
3:40 p.m. - Monarch March: Football team walks through Kaufman Mall en route to stadium
4 p.m. - Monarch Maniacs admitted to stadium
4:30 p.m. - Stadium gates open
5:15 p.m. - Monarch Marching Band, cheerleaders, dance team and Big Blue perform on Kaufman Mall and then march into stadium
5:47 p.m. - Monarch Marching Band pregame performance in stadium
6:07 p.m. - Kickoff: Old Dominion vs. Chowan
Post-game - "5th quarter" - Monarch Marching Band performance in stadium
Parking lots will close 90 minutes after the game.
