The Batten College supports Summer-Multisimulation Conference in Istanbul
From July 13-16, 2009, the Society for Modeling and Simulation conducted the annual Summer-Multisimulation Conference in Istanbul, Turkey. During these four days, M&S experts from all over the world met to discuss the emerging discipline and its applications. The Batten College was represented with four experts as well, playing a leading role in planning and executing this event as well.
Dr. Andreas Tolk was a member of the program committee and chaired three tracks, focusing on engineering applications of M&S for optimization and support of real life operations. He furthermore organized an international panel discussion on the emerging M&S challenges for human, social, cultural, and behavioral modeling.
Dr. Resit Unal co-chaired the engineering management and M&S efforts and chaired a track focusing on engineering management challenges. He also co-authored a paper on a general framework for better use of M&S for optimization, which was presented by Dr. Gaith Rabadi.
Dr. John Sokolowski presented a paper on agent-based models featuring the latest results of his current research at VMASC. He also supported the panel discussion as a member of the panel group.
Old Dominion University is represented in three executive committees for education, publication, and conferences.
