Payne Discusses Watermen and the Chesapeake Bay Tonight on WHRO's 'What Matters'
Working the water is a way of life that has defined the Hampton Roads region for generations, but economic and environmental factors are changing the life of Chesapeake Bay watermen. Brian Payne, assistant professor of history at Old Dominion University, joins a panel discussion on the health and welfare of the area's waterways tonight on the WHRO television program "What Matters."
Hosted by Cathy Lewis, the show also will feature Christy Everett of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Carl Hershner of the Center for Coastal Resources Management at the Virginia Institute for Marine Sciences.
The 30-minute weekly public television program will air at 8:30 p.m. Friday, July10, on WHRO digital television 15.1. Repeat broadcasts are scheduled for 2:30 a.m. Saturday, July 11; 3 p.m. Sunday, July 12; 9:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16; and 3:30 a.m. Friday, July 17.
A downloadable version of the program will be available on WHRO's Web site, www.whatmatters.tv, after the show's first scheduled broadcast.
