ODU Community Development Corp. Hosts Life Skills and Leadership Conference for Girls and Young Women
The ODU Community Development Corporation is hosting the 2009 Hampton Roads Conference for Young women today. The conference is located in Webb University Center, with registration beginning at 8 a.m. The opening session starts at 9 a.m., followed by lunch and the end of the conference at 1:30 p.m.
The mission of this conference is to provide a forum for girls, young women and their parents to expand their knowledge of the critical issues facing girls and young women by providing honest information, encouraging informed choices and good decisions and offering opportunities for dialogue and the exchange of ideas. In addition, the conference aims to provide a foundation for girls and young women to recognize some of the pitfalls that lead women into poverty and second-class citizenship
ODU First Lady Kate Broderick, Channel 3 News anchor Barbara Ciara, The Honorable Louisa Strayhorn, and The Honorable Daun Hester will participate in the conference. Norfolk City Manager Regina Williams is a featured speaker.
