Youth Wind Ensemble Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary with Free Concert May 31

The Hampton Roads Youth Wind Ensemble will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a retrospective concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 31, on the Old Dominion University campus.

Free and open to the public, the concert will be held at the University Theatre, located on Hampton Boulevard between 46th and 47th streets. Parking is available in Garage D behind the Marriott SpringHill Suites.

The ensemble provides a unique performance outlet for outstanding high school wind and percussion musicians. Students meet weekly at ODU to prepare a challenging program of contemporary band literature. Over a two-month period, they develop a working relationship with other like-minded young musicians as well as the ensemble's conductor and staff.

The experience fosters a professional work ethic and a spirit of excellence, allowing students to further their personal, professional and musical growth.

The ensemble is a program of the ODU Community Music Division, established in 1984. For more information visit http://al.odu.edu/cmd/.
