Sheri Reynolds Appears On CNN's "State of the Union"

Old Dominion University English professor Sheri Reynolds appeared on the CNN national politics show "State of the Union" at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 19.

Reynolds was one of three residents of Cape Charles, Va., who were interviewed at random by host John King in Kelly's Gingernut Pub in the tiny Eastern Shore community.

In the taped segment, the three local residents, who have different political views, hold a lively back and forth with the national television host, agreeing to disagree but doing so in a cordial, small-town way.

The trio talks about the challenges facing Cape Charles, and the country as a whole, in the first months of President Barack Obama's administration.

In a column on the CNN.com Web site,http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/04/17/king.sotu.diner/index.html, King writes that the three - Reynolds, Gene Kelly and Sean Ingram - could teach Washington politicians a lesson.

"The lesson is in tone," King states. There were "significant, sometimes sharp disagreements, over Obama administration policies and more broadly over the role of government. But all aired politely in a neighborly way."
