Naval Commander Will Speak at ROTC Spring Awards Ceremony

Rear Adm. Carol M. Pottenger, commander of Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, will be the guest speaker at the annual Hampton Roads Naval ROTC spring awards ceremony on April 18 at Old Dominion University.

The event will be in the Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center from 10 a.m. to noon.

The ceremony is held to recognize students for their outstanding achievement in academics and ROTC units.

Pottenger was one of the first women selected for sea duty and became the first female admiral to command a forward-deployed operation command.

ODU acting President John Broderick will give the opening remarks at the ceremony.
