Final Days for University Libraries' Children's Book Drive
As part of National Library Week (April 12-18), the ODU Libraries will collect new or gently used children's books for children up to age 18. All of the books will be donated to the women and children of YWCA South Hampton Roads.
YWCA South Hampton Roads, founded in 1911, is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to eliminate racism and empower women. The YWCA is the oldest and largest multicultural women's organization in the world and a resource for survivors of rape or domestic violence.
- This past year alone, the YWCA's Women in Crisis Shelters provided intervention counseling and shelter to more than 400 victims of domestic abuse throughout South Hampton Roads.
- Each year, the YWCA's Kids Before and After School Program assists more than 225 working parents by providing subsidized childcare for school-age children at six different locations within the city of Norfolk.
Children's books may be donated at the reference desk on the first floor of the Patricia W. and J. Douglas Perry Library until Saturday, April 18. For more information contact Marissa Jimenez at 683-4182 or mjimenez@odu.edu.
