Joyce Hoffmann Talks State of Newspapers on Today's "HearSay" Program
Joyce Hoffmann, associate professor of journalism at Old Dominion University and former public editor of The Virginian-Pilot, will be one of four panelists today on WHRV-FM's (89.5) midday talk show, "HearSay with Cathy Lewis," to discuss the current state of the newspaper industry.
The show's topic, "Where Do You Get Your News?" will address the concern of veteran journalists for how newsroom layoffs lead to less coverage of local issues, and that a growing number of publications across the country have completely stopped the presses.
Hoffmann will join Kim Lenz, Managing Editor of Williamsburg Yorktown Daily, Maurice Jones, Publisher of the Virginian-Pilot and Carroll Doherty, Associate Director, Editorial at The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press in the panel discussion.
