ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT FORUM TO CONSIDER CUSTOMER SERVICE ISSUES

The Enrollment Management Customer Service Committee will hold an open forum Friday, March 27, to consider issues of customer service as they pertain to faculty, staff and students at Old Dominion University.

The forum will be held from 3-5 p.m. in room 1002 of Constant Hall. It is open to all members of the campus community.

Starting with the premise that customer service in higher education is different from that practiced in the retail arena, and that the customer is not always right in the academic setting, the committee will present its suggested recommendations and solicit thoughts and opinions regarding the question: How do we meet students' needs while maintaining the integrity of the academic process?

Begun last fall by acting President John R. Broderick, the enrollment management initiative aims to develop a comprehensive approach to integrate all of the university's programs, practices, policies and planning to achieve optimal future enrollment and growth. The plan will establish institutional priorities and provide the basis on which to make decisions for the future of the university.

Thirteen committees with representation from faculty, staff and students are examining various areas of the university that impact enrollment, including:

• customer service

• technology/distance learning

• military

• freshmen

• transfer

• graduate

• retention

• campus infrastructure

• budget

• international

• reputation

• continuing education/noncredit

• data assessment.

For more information about the forum, call Jennifer Kingsley at 683-3405. More information about the enrollment management initiative can be found online at www.odu.edu/ao/em.
