Department for Engineering Management organizes track for the 2009 International Simulation Multiconference (ISMc'09)
Drs. Andreas Tolk and Resit Unal will chair a track on "Engineering and Management in the M&S Discipline" for the upcoming M&S conference ISMc'09. This international conference is organized by Society for Modeling and Simulation (SCS) and will be conducted in Istanbul, Turkey. The underlying idea is captured in the announcement as follows: M&S is ubiquitous in systems engineering and supporting disciplines. On the one hand side, M&S supports the system engineer: Simulation replaces more and more the traditional experimentation. Where until recently prototypes were created to conduct experiments, virtual prototypes are increasingly used in support of the engineering process. Instead of doing real crash tests, initial test are done in the computer. Instead of building real ship hulls, the influence of sea-mines is simulated. Before new toll booths are erected, traffic simulation evaluates the regional effects first. To establish a common view on what is needed for M&S to play this essential and important real-world role, the forum is looking for papers from practitioners and academia, dealing with related topics.
