Services for Former ODU Adjunct Associate Professor Elizabeth Vogel Will Be Jan. 24
M. Elizabeth Vogel, a former ODU adjunct associate professor, died Jan. 17 in Moneta, VA.
She received her bachelor's degree in health services administration from Loretto Heights College in 1978, her master's degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan School of Public Health in 1981 and her Ph.D. in public administration and urban policy in 2005.
In 2006, she joined Carilion Medical Center in Roanoke as the faculty development educator. During her tenure with Carilion, Vogel helped lay the foundation for the development of the curriculum for the new medical school and programs for post graduate education of residents, fellows and physician leadership groups.
In addition to her professional achievements, Vogel was known for her love of the outdoors and sailing.
She is survived by her sons Matt and Tim Telinde, her parents Daniel and Mary Ann Vogel of Indiana; her brother, James Vogel; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson Timothy Mitchell Barton Telinde.
A funeral Mass will be conducted at held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Norfolk. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn, Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Operation Smile or Heartland Heroes, 710 Sarah St., Garden City, KS 67846 or to a charity of choice.
