BATTEN COLLEGE NCSOSE Receives $4.3M Research Award from DHS
The National Centers for System of Systems Engineering (NCSOSE) recently received a $4.3M award from the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate. The funding will support continued research in development of System of Systems Engineering capabilities related to decisions in complex situations.
The research is a five year effort to develop and prototype test advanced theory, methodologies, and tools based on the Complex Adaptive Situations Methodology (CASM) pioneered under previous DHS research conducted at NCSOSE. The award represents a recognition of the significant contributions being made by NCSOSE to advancing the homeland security mission through research.
The effort will be led by Dr. Andres Sousa-Poza (PI), Mr. Samuel Kovacic (Research Scientist), and Dr. Chuck Keating (Co-PI). In addition, Systems Engineering Solutions Incorporated will provide software engineering support for the effort. When asked about the effort, Dr. Sousa-Poza responded, "It 's truly an honor to have the value of our research recognized by this long term DHS award. It acknowledges our previous work and will challenge us to push the limits of our knowledge over the next five years."
