Cetin Appointed ODU Transportation Research Board Representative
The Transportation Research Board (TRB) has recently appointed Dr. Mecit Cetin, Assistant Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering, as a University Representative to the TRB. The Transportation Research Board is a division of the National Research Council and was established to provide leadership in transportation innovation and to initiate progress through research and information exchange. More than 7,000 transportation professionals are regularly engaged in service and research activities of the TRB. Dr. Cetin's appointment represents the first appointment of an ODU faculty member and is recognition by the TRB of the transportation program that has developed at ODU. Dr. Cetin recently joined the Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Department and has a research and teaching interests in the areas of transportation modeling and simulation and traffic operations. He joins Dr. Asad Khattak, Professor and Batten Endowed Chair, in developing a new program in transportation engineering within the CEE Department. Drs. Khattak and Cetin authored or co-authored 12 technical papers that will be presented at the upcoming TRB Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., January 11-15, 2009.
