UPDATE ON TROPICAL STORM HANNA PREPARATIONS

Old Dominion University officials continue to monitor the track and progress of Tropical Storm Hanna, which is expected to bring rain and winds to the Hampton Roads region early Saturday.

Old Dominion University faculty, staff and students are reminded that any delays or closings will be announced through the university's ODU Alerts messaging system, web site and campus-wide e-mail, as well as on local media outlets WTKR-TV 3, WAVY-TV 10, WVEC-TV 13, and radio stations WNIS-AM 790, WHRV-FM 89.5 and WHRO-FM 90.3.

Officials expect to make a decision on whether to cancel Saturday classes by noon Friday.  Such a decision will be communicated via the methods listed above.

Because the parking areas around Rogers and Gresham Halls lie in low areas and are prone to flooding, students and faculty/staff who normally park in those areas are urged to move their cars to one of the university's parking garages by noon Friday.

Additionally, if winds create prolonged power outages on campus, Webb University Center will be open and operating for student residents, including meal service.  Residence Hall directors and assistants will communicate directions in such a situation.
