ODU Alumnus Tests Record Breaking Swimsuit Technology

Old Dominion University graduate Steve Wilkinson, an aerospace engineer at NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, was profiled recently by the NASA news service for his role in the development of the Speedo LZR Racer, worn by U.S. gold medalists Michael Phelps and Natalie Coughlin, among others, at the Olympic Games in Beijing.

Wilkinson, who earned a master's degree in engineering at ODU in 1979, "tested dozens of swimsuit fabrics in NASA Langley's 7- by 11-Inch Low Speed Wind Tunnel," according to the article.
