Doctoral Student in Oceanography to Speak on Marine Ecosystem Modeling

Tian Tian, a doctoral student in oceanography at Old Dominion University, will present her research on nitrogen and carbon cycling on the eastern U.S. continental shelf in the fall seminar series of ODU's Center for Coastal Physical Oceanography at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22.

The talk in CCPO's Room 3200 in the Innovation Research Park@ODU Building 1 will be preceded by a reception with refreshments beginning at 3 p.m. The seminars in the series are free and open to the public.

Tian's research focus, titled "Statistical Analyses and Assimilation of Data into a Marine Ecosystem Model of the U.S. Eastern Continental Shelf," involves comparisons of model-derived predictions of phytoplankton processes with satellite-derived data such as ocean color that measure the processes.
