Professors from China Visit ODU
The Institute of Asian Studies at Old Dominion University is hosting a delegation of faculty members from China's Southwest Jiaotong University. The university, well-known for its engineering programs, is located in Chengdu, Sichuan, the province affected in May by the 8.0-magnitude earthquake that left 69,225 dead and 17,923 missing.
The 16 member delegation is comprised of 15 women and one man, most of whom teach in the university's departments of English or applied English. During their academic and cultural exchange visit, the professors attended lectures offered by ODU faculty members and visited local historical and cultural points of interest.
The guests, who arrived Aug. 6, will depart Norfolk on Aug. 24 for a brief visit in Washington, DC before returning to their homes in China.
