ODU Alumna Scores Olympic Gold
Old Dominion University alumna Anna Tunnicliffe has won the Olympic gold medal in Laser Radial sailing, becoming the first ODU graduate to win an individual event gold in the school's history.
Tunnicliffe, a 2005 ODU graduate from Plantation, Fla., battled back from being ninth out of 10 boats to win the race and earn the United States its first gold medal in sailing at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
This marked the first time the British-born Tunnicliffe had sailed in the women's Laser Radial event for the U.S. team. She is ranked No. 1 in the world and is a three-time All-American and national champion.
