Dance Theatre Season Begins Aug. 27-28

The Old Dominion University dance theatre program will kick off its 2008-09 season with "Dance into Fall," a modern dance concert, at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, and Thursday, Aug. 28, at the University Theatre. The concert will include choreography by ODU faculty members Mina Estrada, Amanda Kinzer and Marilyn Marloff, and performances by ODU dance faculty, students and alumni.

This program will feature six new works by Estrada and Kinzer. The solo and group works range from playful to introspective with a wide variety of musical accompaniment, including upbeat percussion and driving trance rhythms. Marloff, the dance program director, contributes the lilting, tender duet, "Patchwork."

Estrada and Kinzer recently presented choreography at the Piccolo Spoleto Dance Festival in Charleston, S.C.
