BOV Puts Presidential Search on Hold
Following an exhaustive search process in which the credentials of numerous qualified candidates were reviewed, the Old Dominion University Board of Visitors has decided to temporarily put on hold the search for a president, Rector Marc Jacobson announced today (Aug. 29, 2008).
"The Board was pleased with the candidates forwarded to it by the search committee, including the finalists," Jacobson noted. "However, due to the caliber of the final candidates, the board had difficulty reaching a consensus on one candidate for the position of president."
Jacobson added, "The board would like to express its gratitude and appreciation to the search committee on its diligent and conscientious work."
John R. Broderick will continue to serve as acting president, he said.
"The Board is confident that, under the leadership of Mr. Broderick, Old Dominion will maintain its forward trajectory and continued growth in the areas of academic excellence, cutting-edge research, funding and reputation."
