VATPDC Lean Training Featured in MEP University Newsletter

Training wholly developed at the Va. Applied Technology & Professional Development Center was recently featured in the Manufacturing Extension Partnership University's newsletter.

This workshop teaches the principles of Lean Manufacturing for a discrete, non-repetitive environment and how to apply them. Students participate in the simulation exercises as a member of the M & M Pneumatics job shop.

The course was developed at the request of Northrop Grumman's Newport News shipbuilding operation and was adopted as the national standard by NIST's MEP program. The course was developed by Marcie Gerdin and Mike Cory, thus, M & M Pneumatics. An associated Value Stream Mapping Course has also been developed as well as Set-up Reduction & Total Productive Maintenance.

"I'm extremely proud of the work Marcie and Mike have done" said, Jerry Robertson, Ex. Director of the VATPDC.

To date, the course has been delivered throughout Virginia and in Toronto, Washington DC, Chicago, Tampa, Kansas City, Birmingham, and the list goes on keeping Mike and Marcie very busy.
