For a better future, introduce all High School Students to engineering
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has recently announced a new activity to promote interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), the Virginia Aerospace Scholars Program Project Lead The Way is a four-year pre-engineering program first developed in New York state to fill a void in its curriculum. It covers principles of engineering, engineering design, an elective from several specialty areas including digital design, biotechnology and aerospace engineering, and a capstone design, build and operate course. Professional design and analysis software is used that prepares students for college and the world of work. Each state must have a lead or affiliate university -- the Frank Batten College of Engineering and Technology at Old Dominion University is the affiliate for Virginia.
