OnFilm Festival Takes On Russian Flavor, Screens Political Drama

The film 2007 "Charlie Wilson's War" starring Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts and directed by Mike Nichols, was screened at the Chrysler Museum Tuesday night as part of the ODU OnFilm Festival.

A political drama, the film is based on a true story about Texas Congressman Charlie Wilson and Charlie Wilson's covert dealings in Afghanistan and his efforts to assist Afghani rebels in their war with the Soviets Union.

The film was introduced by Senior Fulbright Fellow and professor and director of the Humanities Institute and Graduate Program at ODU, Dana Heller.

Musical entertainment was provided by members of the Tidewater Guitar Orchestra (pictured) and Russian food was served during the reception following the screening.
