ODU Offers Helping Hand to Tornado Victims

Several tornadoes struck Suffolk last evening.  Every member of the university community joins in offering heartfelt sympathy to all of those affected.  The president and chief of police have been in touch with the Red Cross and have learned that donations of funds are most welcome to help families purchase necessities.

Chief Bill Quinn is working with police and emergency services personnel in Suffolk to identify needed staff and equipment to assist in the cleanup operation.

Some 81 members of our faculty and staff live in Suffolk.  If you were affected by the storm and need assistance, please call Human Resources at 683-3042. Leave may be available for those whose primary residence sustained severe or catastrophic damage, or who were ordered to evacuate their residence.

Students who are unable to get to campus today should contact their professors directly or call Judy Bowman at 683-3260,  If you are a student and need some assistance call Stella Mims  at 683-3442.  If you are experiencing stress related to this situation or exams call 683-4401.
