ODU Observed Moment of Silence Today

Message from the President:

The events at Virginia Tech remain so clearly etched in our minds that it is hard to believe that an entire year has passed. Yet, today will mark that passage of time.

The Governor, Tim Kaine, invited us all to join him in marking the occasion with solemnity and silence. He  asked us to pause for a moment of silence at noon. In turn, I asked that you interrupt your teaching, your lunch, your conversation to join all members of the Old Dominion University community in respectful memory of our colleagues and fellow students who lost their lives in Blacksburg twelve months ago.

We are each shaped by the tragedies and celebrations of our individual lives and, as citizens of this great nation, we are moved together by extraordinary events, sharing the pain of loss and the joy of victory. Today is one such day. Let us remember together those who lost their lives and those who were personally affected by this violent tragedy. Let us dedicate this bond of memory which we share to making the world better, safer, and more compassionate.

Sincerely yours,

Roseann Runte

President
