ODU Libraries Exhibit Celebrates Women's History Month
The Old Dominion University Libraries are presenting an exhibit, "Women's Art, Women's Vision," in recognition of Women's History Month. It will be on display throughout the month of March in the lobby of the Patricia W. and J. Douglas Perry Library. A Web version of the exhibit is available at http://www.lib.odu.edu/exhibits/womenshistorymonth/2008/index.htm.
Books from the collections of the Elise N. Hofheimer Art Library were selected for the exhibit to illustrate the ethnically diverse and historically expansive nature of women in the visual arts. The exhibit focuses on Latin American artists, post-Soviet artists, Africana and pan-Pacific artists, folk artists, and traditional and avant-garde artists in America and Europe.
In addition, the exhibit includes Renaissance artists to early modernists to contemporary and postmodern women who are not only artists, but also writers and exponents of what is known as feminist art and art criticism.
