Diehn Concert Tonight - Bart van Oort on Forte-Piano

Bart van Oort, a prolific recording artists and recitalist who won both first prize and the special "Audience" prize at the Mozart Fortepiano Competition in Bruges, Belgium in 1986, will perform at 8 p.m. tonight in Chandler Recital Hall as part of the F. Ludwig Diehn Concert Series.

Since 1997 van Oort has made over twenty recordings of chamber music and solo repertory, including piano trios by Mozart, Hummel, and Beethoven, and the piano quartets of Mozart, all with his ensemble The Van Swieten Society (formerly Musica Classica). His repertoire runs from Haydn to the romantic era, and he recently completed an eight-year project producing the complete keyboard works of Mozart.

Van Oort teaches fortepiano and is a lecturer in Historical Performance Practice at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague (The Netherlands), The Conservatory of Amsterdam, and at the Royal Flemish Conservatory in Antwerp.

Tickets for tonight's performance are $10 for students, $15 general admission and can be purchased in advance at the box office (683-5305) or prior to the event.
