Stone Cold Swim
The Hampton Roads Navy ROTC unit, including 89 Old Dominion and Norfolk State students, plus Maj. Bob Strong from ODU, participated in the 16th Annual Polar Plunge on Feb. 2, raising more than $13,000 for the Virginia Special Olympics. The Navy ROTC team, competing against corporation such as Virginia Natural Gas and Booz-Allen Hamilton and Associates, had the second highest number of participants and raised the fourth highest amount in donation among the 100-plus groups entered in the event. This was the Navy ROTC unit's fourth year in a row participating in the Polar Plunge at Virginia Beach. Over the past four years, the unit raised more than $30,000 for local Special Olympians.
