Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Old Dominion's University Village bookstore will commemorate the March 3 birthday of legendary children's author Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, with a variety of children's activities.

The celebration will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 1, at the bookstore, located at the corner of Monarch Way and 46th Street. The bookstore will sponsor readings of several Dr. Seuss works, with a focus on "The Cat in the Hat," according to Marc Katz, tradebook manager for the bookstore.

"We will have someone with a 'Cat in the Hat' costume entertain the kids, some free gifts and a balloon magician," Katz said. "Our first special children's reading was with Curious George, and the parents seemed to enjoy the opportunity to take their kids to a new place for a free adventure."

For more information, call the bookstore at 683-0048 or Scott M. Lowe Jr. at 683-6394.
