FLAGS LOWERED IN HONOR OF MITCHELL VAN YAHRES

Gov. Timothy Kaine ordered the flag of the Commonwealth of Virginia at state facilities to be lowered in honor of former member of the Virginia House of Delegates, Mitchell Van Yahres. Yahres, 81, died last week after complications following surgery.

Van Yahres, a democrat, served 24 years in the House of Delegates representing Charlottesville and Albemarle County.

The state and university flag will remain at half staff until sunset on Friday, Feb. 15.
