FINAL WEEKEND TO SEE "RASHOMON"

This weekend is the last opportunity to see the Old Dominion University theatre department's presentation of Michael and Fay Kanin's mystery, "Rashomon," directed by Konrad Winters. Performances begin at 8:00 p.m. Feb. 21, 22 and 23 with a matinee performance at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 23.

"Rashomon," set in a 12th-century Japanese jungle, explores the nature of truth. After the gruesome murder of a man and brutal rape of his wife, four witnesses are called to recount the facts. Based on the award-winning Kurosaswa film, "Rashomon" is performed in a historically accurate but magically realistic style. Audiences will be transported in time on a journey that ends when the mystery is solved and the shocking truth revealed.

"Rashomon" can be enjoyed by audiences age 13 and older. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for general admission. They may be purchased in advance at the Arts and Letters box office, located in the lobby of the University Theatre, or by calling 683-5305. Tickets are also available at the door one hour before each performance.

Group rates are available by contacting Ashley Walden at 683-3608 or awalden@odu.edu. The University Theatre is located on Hampton Boulevard between 46th and 47th streets. Parking is available in the 45th Street Garage.
