EXECUTIVE-IN-RESIDENCE SPEAKER TO DISCUSS "CHEATING CULTURE"
David Callahan, author of "The Cheating Culture: Why More Americans Are Doing Wrong to Get Ahead" and "Kindred Spirits: Harvard Business School's Extraordinary Class of 1949 and How They Transformed American Business," will be the guest speaker for the Landmark Executive-in-Residence speaker series at Old Dominion University Thursday, Feb. 21.
Sponsored by Landmark Communications and ODU's College of Business and Public Administration, the lecture will begin at 12:30 p.m. in Constant Hall. It is free and open to university students, faculty and staff, and to the public as space permits.
In addition to his books, Callahan has had articles published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today and The American Prospect. He has also been a frequent commentator for television news programs on CNN, CBS, PBS, MSNBC and Fox News, and has been a regular guest on a number of radio talk shows, including NPR's "Morning Edition," "The Connection" and the "Tavis Smiley Show." Callahan lectures frequently about issues of ethics and integrity to universities, associations and businesses.
In 1999, Callahan co-founded the think tank Demos, a public policy center based in New York City. Demos combines research and advocacy with the goal of strengthening democracy and expanding economic opportunity within the United States. Previously, he was a Fellow at the Century Foundation, where he engaged in wide-ranging public policy research and analysis.
Callahan received his doctorate from Princeton University and his bachelor's degree from Hampshire College. He lives in New York City.
The Landmark Executive-in-Residence speaker series is designed to enrich students' entrepreneurial spirit, their awareness of the success that can be built on their academic experience, and their understanding of the importance of leading with integrity.
The series is dedicated to bringing accomplished business leaders, authors and internationally known speakers to campus to share their history and vision, giving students the opportunity to learn firsthand the strategies and experiences that forge great ethical global leaders.
Established in 2001, the Landmark Executive-in-Residence program is funded by an endowment from a group of former Landmark Communications executives in honor of Frank Batten Sr., Landmark's founder and the first rector of the ODU Board of Visitors.
