ODU'S KELLI JAMES PRECOURT TO BE INDUCTED TO THE VIRGINIA SPORTS HALL OF FAME

Kelli James Precourt, a 1992 ODU graduate, will be inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame on April 26 during the 37th annual induction ceremony at the Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel & Waterfront Conference Center. Tickets go on sale Jan. 15.

A native of Medford, N.J., Precourt was a two-time All-America field hockey player, leading Old Dominion to NCAA national championships in 1988, 1990 and 1992. The Lady Monarchs were 23-2-1 in 1990 and 25-0 in 1992. In 1992, Precourt won the coveted Honda Award as the nation's top player in her sport. Also that year, she led the nation in scoring with 131 points and 59 assists.

She earned first team All-America honors in 1990 and 1992, in addition to All-CAA honors in 1992. James was a four-time All-South Region selection and a 1990 and 1992 NCAA All-Tournament selection. She was named the New Jersey Writers Association's Female Athlete of the Year both of those years.
Precourt was a member of the 1996 U.S. Olympic field hockey team, which competed in the Atlanta Games. She served as vice-captain for the USA field hockey squad at the 1998 World Cup, and tied for the Team USA scoring lead in the 1999 Pan American Games. Precourt, who earned her bachelor's degree in marketing education at ODU, also has a master's in corporate training.

She was inducted into the ODU Sports Hall of Fame in 2003.
