ODU DANCE THEATRE FALL CONCERT SET FOR NOV. 15-17
The Old Dominion University dance program will present its annual University Dance Theatre Fall Concert at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Nov. 15-16, and 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the newly renovated University Theatre, Hampton Boulevard and 47th Street. The concert will include a wide variety of dance styles, with choreography by guest artists, ODU faculty and selected students. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door.
Special guest choreographer Beverly Cordova Duane, director of the electrifying Second Wind Dance Company, will contribute an excerpt from her modern dance "Gatherings," performed by a cast of ODU students and Second Wind members. Jessica Page, guest artist and ODU adjunct dance faculty member, premieres a new work that combines elements of diverse strands of jazz, including lyrical jazz and hip-hop. Page, who was the choreographer for the recent ODU Theatre production of the "Rocky Horror Show," is known for her creative and crowd-pleasing choreography.
Associate Professor Amanda Kinzer will present two large-group dances: "Origins," a high-energy modern dance with a tribal flavor, and the premiere of a modern piece, titled "You Are Here." This dance explores the way we experience time in the various stages of our lives, and especially the curious phenomenon of its perceived acceleration as we age.
Tickets are $12 for general admission and $10 for ODU students with valid ID. Tickets may be purchased at the Arts and Letters Box Office in the lobby of the Health Sciences Building, or by calling 683-5305. For more information call 683-3002 or 683-4354.
