COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES AND RED CROSS SIGN AGREEMENT ON JOINT HEALTH EDUCATION INITIATIVES

Officials from the College of Health Sciences at Old Dominion University and the Southeastern chapter of the American Red Cross signed a memorandum of understanding Nov. 6 that will lead to community health initiatives, prevention training and outreach, and unique collaborative learning experiences.

The signing marks the beginning of the agreement, by which ODU and the American Red Cross will work together to support joint efforts in community and public health education initiatives, and community service through support of local disaster-relief activities.

"The American Red Cross is a premier organization and ODU is very proud to strengthen its partnership with the Red Cross and elevate it to a new level," said Andrew Balas, dean of the College of Health Sciences at ODU.

The following officials were on hand for the signing: Andrew Balas, dean of the ODU College of Health Sciences; Mary Jo Rothgery, chapter executive director of the American Red Cross; Thomas Isenhour, ODU provost; and C. Thomas Vaughn, board chairman of the American Red Cross.
