AWARD-WINNING AUTHOR TO SPEAK ON IMMIGRATION TOPICS TONIGHT AT ODU

Dr. Nancy Foner, distinguished professor of sociology at Hunter College and the Graduate Center City University of New York, will deliver the Evelyn Kanter Endowed Lectureship in Interfaith Understanding entitled, "Immigration and the Changing Construction of Race and Ethnicity," Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. in Chandler Recital Hall in the Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center at Old Dominion University. The lecture is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception.

Foner is the author of thirteen books including the award-winning "From Ellis Island to JFK: New York's Two Great Waves of Immigration" and "Not Just Black and White: Historical and Contemporary Perspectives on Immigration, Race and Ethnicity in the United States." She is the chair of the International Migration Section of the American Sociological Association.
