ELEVEN CANDIDATES TO DISCUSS PLATFORMS AT FORUM TONIGHT

Old Dominion University's Student Government Association will host a "Meet the Candidates" event featuring 11 local candidates for statewide elections Thursday, Oct. 11.

Free and open to the public, the event will held at 7 p.m. in the Big Blue Room of the Ted Constant Convocation Center. A reception will be held prior to the event at 6 p.m.

During the gathering, the November candidates will provide the public with their platform and stance on issues in a moderated, question-and-answer forum. It will be moderated by WVEC-TV political reporter Mike Gooding and student leaders will ask the candidates questions.

Candidates scheduled to participate include: incumbents Sen. Fred Quayle; Sen. Nick Rerras; Del. John Welch; Del. Paula Miller; Del. John Cosgrove; and Del. Bob Purkey; along with hopefuls Bob McIver; Dr. Ralph Northam; Michael Meyer; Steve Heretick and Robert Mathieson.
