COMBINED VIRGINIA CAMPAIGN KICKS OFF; ODU SETS $130,000 GOAL
Old Dominion University's participation in the annual Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign kicked off Oct. 1 with a goal of raising $130,000 before the end of the fall semester.
Members of the campus community are being asked for their pledges of support to local United Way agencies as well as a host of other area, state, national and international charitable organizations.
The campaign's Web site, www.cvc.vipnet.org/donors/directorylist.htm, includes a listing of all of the participating agencies and organizations, which number more than 2,500.
"Give Hope" is the theme for this year's campaign, which is headed by Karen Travis, assistant vice president for institutional advancement.
"The Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign at ODU has experienced significant growth, setting new records each year for the number of employees participating and the amount contributed," Travis said. "ODU employees contributed just under $1 million to charities in the past 10 years through the CVC. Teamwork and a passion for giving are hallmarks of the workplace giving program."
