CCPO TALK TO EXAMINE AIR-SEA INTERFACE RESEARCH NOV. 5
Brian Ward, assistant professor of physical oceanography at Old Dominion University, will lecture about his studies of the air-sea interface Monday, Nov. 5, in the Fall 2007 Seminar Series of the university's Center for Coastal Physical Oceanography.
The title of the lecture, which will be given at 3:30 p.m. in Room 3200 of the Innovation Research Park @ ODU building, is "Thermometric Measurements of the Molecular Sublayer at the Air-Water Interface."
Ward, who received his Ph.D. from the National University of Ireland, Galway, worked in Europe and at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts before joining ODU in 2006. His research shows that increased wind speed can diminish the thickness of the air-sea sublayer, and it has helped to improve our understanding of air-sea heat flux.
