SATURDAY TAILGATE PARTY IN TOWN POINT PARK TO HIGHLIGHT ODU FOOTBALL WEEKEND
The Old Dominion University Department of Athletics will host an action filled weekend of events, including a tailgate party and golf tournament, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12-13 dedicated to the revival of its football program in 2009.
The inaugural ODU Football Golf Tournament at Sleepy Hole Golf Course in Suffolk will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12. Participants will have the opportunity to win a variety of prizes and ODU merchandise, as well as play along side and interact with Monarch head football coach Bobby Wilder and other ODU officials. At the conclusion of the tournament there will be an awards ceremony and dinner for all participants. The tournament costs $150 for individuals and $600 for a foursome, with all proceeds going to the ODU football scholarship fund.
The Monarchs will host the ODU Kickoff Countdown Tailgate Party at Town Point Park in Norfolk from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13. The event is free and open to the public. There will be an oyster roast in addition to other refreshments, music and games, as well as a performance by the ODU pep band and cheerleaders. The Monarchs will also unveil the helmet and uniform design that the team will be wearing when it takes the field in 2009.
