EDUCATION'S JOHN NUNNERY RECEIVES RESEARCH AWARD FROM VIRGINIA EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATION

John Nunnery, an assistant professor in the educational leadership and counseling department at Old Dominion University, has been awarded the Charles Edgar Clear Research Award for 2007 by the Virginia Educational Research Association.

A graduate of Rhodes College and Memphis State University, Nunnery has been a professor at ODU since 2001. He has taught numerous classes and written extensively in the educational research field by publishing several books, articles and papers about education.

He will be presented the research award on Sept. 14 at the annual VERA conference in Charlottesville, Va.

The award is given annually to the individual, group, or organization that has made a sustained contribution to educational research or evaluation in the Virginia or the nation. According to the association, the award is competitive, and nominations are sought from educators across Virginia.

Dr. Charles Clear was a prominent educator in Virginia who contributed to the early development of the Virginia Educational Research Association. He promoted educational research and evaluation through his position in the Virginia Department of Education.
