STEWART NAMED ASSOCIATE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
Bruce Stewart, the senior associate athletic director of finance at Coastal Carolina University, has been named an associate athletic director at Old Dominion University as announced today by athletic director Jim Jarrett.
"We are extremely pleased to add Bruce to our staff," says Jarrett. "He will have significant administrative responsibilities for football and other sports in our department, as well as oversight of our athletic facilities and will play a vital role in the continued growth of our athletic program."
Stewart has spent the past nine years at Coastal Carolina in a variety of administrative positions, including budget and finance, internal operations, fund raising and promotions and basketball operations and played a key role in the addition of football to the Coastal Carolina's athletic curriculum six years ago.
"I am leaving a special place in Coastal Carolina University. Coastal has provided me a wealth of fond memories and friendships that I will cherish forever," says Stewart.
"As I join the Old Dominion University family and Hampton Roads community, I am excited about the challenges and opportunities that are on the horizon", adds Stewart. I am truly honored and privileged to be a part of such a distinguished institution of higher education, and an Athletics Department with such a rich tradition of excellence. It is a great time to be a Monarch!
In addition to his athletic experience, Stewart served as an adjunct professor of business law at Coastal Carolina from 1998-2000. He holds an undergraduate degree from Morehouse College in psychology, and a Master of Arts in sports management and a Juris Doctor in law from The Ohio State University.
His appointment at Old Dominion is effective July 25.
