RETIREMENT CELEBRATION FOR RON JOHNSON IS TODAY
The Department of Ocean, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences is hosting a retirement celebration for Associate Professor Ronald Johnson from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, in the Hampton/Newport News Room in Webb University Center.
A member of the ODU faculty since 1968, Johnson was one of the original professors of the Institute of Oceanography. He is known on campus as Mr. Oceanography for his Introductory Oceanography Course. He has served as chief departmental advisor and main instructor in the oceanography 106N/107N lab science course for the more than 400 students who use the course each year to satisfy their general science education requirement. His research interests are in general deep ocean circulation and waves and tides. He is the northeast region vice president for the honor society Phi Kappa Phi.
