ODU DESSERT COMPETITION WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Old Dominion University held the fifth annual President's Dessert Competition Monday, June 18 in the North Cafeteria of Webb Center.
The winners were:
Desserts With Appeal: Norma Turner, of student health services, for Norma's Heavenly Fruitcake;
Southern Comfort: Leonthia Avery, of the registrar's office, for Not Your Mama's Banana Pudding;
A Beauty to Behold: Christina Upton, of student health services, for Bee-Hive Lemon Cake;
Chocoholics Delight: Shari Swain, of the academic affairs, for Oreo Truffle;
Family Secret: Sherise Washington for White Chocolate Swirl Cake; and
People's Choice Award: Rita Sutherland for Blueberry Cream Cheesecake.
Celebrity judge Joe Flanagan of WVEC-TV had the task of selecting winners in the family secret category. "I don't know how we're ever going to choose from among all these entries" said Flanagan. This was his third year as judge.
Other judges included: Cindy Flanagan, Lucia Ball, Rita Brown, Etta Henry, Austin Jersild, Harvey Logan, Luna Magpili, Rick Massey, Phillip Prewitt, Kathy Williamson, Blaine Taylor, Don Rockwell, Greg McMartin and Tommy Langford.
The competition will be featured on WVEC-TV 13 Monday.
