"DON'T DUMP IT, DONATE IT" PROGRAM A SUCCESS
Facilities Management recently completed the program "Don't dump it Donate it" on the Old Dominion University campus. Harvey Logan, who oversees the university's recycling efforts, created the program.
The program, which ran the last two weeks of the semester, encouraged students to donate materials rather than throw them in the trash.
Facilities Management along with Sigma Nu fraternity collected over two and a half tons of clothing, shoes, food, computer equipment, printers, refrigerators, televisions, fans and other material from student residences.
All collections were gathered and donated to local charities in the Hampton Roads region including Goodwill, Samaritan House and the Salvation Army.
"Harvey Logan, staff and other volunteers with this project have furthered Old Dominion University's mission of decreasing the amount of waste created on campus," said Rich LeMoal, associate director of Facilities Management. "They have created a program we can be proud of," he said.
