VIRGINIA SYMPHONY TO PERFORM ON KAUFMAN MALL TODAY
The Virginia Symphony Orchestra will perform an outdoor concert on the campus of Old Dominion University at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 24 on Kaufman Mall in front of Webb University Center.
Titled "Classics on the Lawn," the concert will be conducted by new assistant conductor Matthew Kendall Kraemer and feature selections from West Side Story and the music of John Williams and Gershwin. Additionally, the symphony will perform Adolphus Hailstork's new "Jamestown Fanfare."
The concert is free and open to the public. Those attending are reminded to bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic basket to enjoy the evening breeze and symphonic sounds. Parking is available in the 45th Street and 43rd Street garages.
